What's Solidarity Economy?

Since the 1990s, the Solidarity Economy (Economia Solidária or Ecosol) has fostered solidaristic interdependencies within and between economic activities, in order to ensure the survival and well-being of workers. This model promotes cooperative relationships that improve collective capacities and livelihoods. It builds short suply chains bringing producers closer to consumers, who thus support solidarity relations and more sustainable production methods.

In this section we will publish news about EcoSol activities of agroecological initiatives during the COVID-19 crisis from three territories: Baixada Santista (Brazil), the southern region of Rio de Janeiro and the northern coast of São Paulo (Bocaina, Brazil), and in the Valle Central (Bolivia).
